Exhibition: "Impressionism. Painting Light"
September 11-January 10, 2010. The ambitious exhibition "Impressionism. Painting Light" at the Albertina offers an entirely novel approach to Impressionist art. Based on exemplary works by Monet, Cézanne, Van Gogh etc., the story of Impressionism is retold from a new perspective. Presenting about fifty masterpieces from the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum & Fondation Corboud in Cologne, from the Batliner Collection of the Albertina and a number of loans from international museums, the exhibition delivers a fascinating insight into Impressionist and Post-Impressionist painting. Musical: Tanz der Vampire/Dance of the Vampires
September 15-end of 2009. The Vampires are dancing again! The musical "Dance of the Vampires" by Michael Kunze and Jim Steinman is based on the film by Roman Polanski and had its world premiere more than 10 years ago in Vienna. In fall 2009 the curtain is drawn again at the Ronacher theater for the premiere of the renewal of the very successful scary musical. Exhibition: "Edvard Munch and the Uncanny" and "Museums Night 2009"
October 16, 2009-January 18, 2010. The exhibition of the Leopold Museum investigates how "the Uncanny" manifests itself in the art of the late 19th and the early 20th century. The emphasis is put on the "Gothic Movement" in England around 1800, French and German symbolism and the early traces of psychological findings in works by Munch, Schiele & Co. October 2, 3, 10, 16, 18, 22, 23, 27. The musical "Guys and Dolls" is an American masterpiece. However, in Austria it is still little known. Now there's an end of it! Frank Loesser's most important creation celebrates its debut performance at the Vienna Volksoper - a Broadway musical in proper style onstage in Vienna.
